It's his router and your internet connection, right?

I am not a lawyer, but if anything unlawful ever happens on his computer, it will be YOUR internet connection that is implicated. The goverment could confiscate YOUR computer equipment, not his, while they investigate.

Your neighbor may be a fine fellow, but he should know better than to ask this of you.

Unless you trust your neighbor with your life, I would give him his router back.

He can't access your computer easily, but if he's skilled at hacking, sharing a wireless connection makes it easier. The biggest danger is actually with your neighbor being able to track, watch and trace the sites you have visited. He could find out your passwords. Again, although this takes great skill, it is totally possible. If I were you, I wouldn't let him share the connection unless you trust him completely.

This is a strange question. Why would his broadband router be plugged into your computer so he can go wireless?

I think your real question is you let your neighbor use you wireless braodband antenna, can he hack my computer. Theoretically he could but practicaly he can not.

If you do not have a firewall you can catch one hell of a lot of viruses though.

Uh yeah. Make sure you are running some type of Firewall software. It will prompt you anytime someone or some web site is trying to access your computer. You can choose whether you allow it or deny it.

He sure can. Just get a firewall for your computer. You can block his IP if you want. You can do a showARP command to see what his IP is then configure your firewall to block his IP address from being able to telnet into your computer.
