Absolutely. In fact, the second and third would never have been made had it not been for the popularity of Depp's Jack Sparrow character. Had he not signed on, there would have been no sequels.

I think she meant has he a large amount of time on screeen or would it be the rest of the crew the film focuses on.
Since Jack Sparrow makes those films the success it is, he would have to be in it more than just towards the end.
