I have an AA in Business from a Florida Comm. college, GPA is 3.5, want to get into BU's school of management. No real work experience. People say it's hard, but I won't find out if I've been accepted until a couple of weeks before I have to move from Florida to Boston! So, I need to know if I have a sure chance of getting accepted. (SAT scores average)

I think when it comes to a school like that it will depend on your SAT's. They have so many people apply there they use the SAT's as a way to weed people out because it would be to difficult to decide which students should be accepted and which ones should not be accepted. They may like the fact that you are from Florida, but they may get applicants from all over. Unless you can get into an Ivy League it does not really matter where you go. I would look at Florida, FSU or Miami. You will get the same education there as at BU, but at a much cheaper price. You not going to get a better job if you go to BU over Florida no employer will really care. Here is a link to BU's statistics to measure yourself. I see you are moving to Boston have you thought about Babson College it is probably better for business than BU

Having worked at an Admissions office, transferring in for your last two years is usually a little easier than applying first year. You may have a better chance, but BU is generally a reach school for many students. I would recommend applying to other schools to make sure that you have a back up should you not be accepted.

BU is hard - I know someone who applied for first year, top 10% of his class, from a well known prep school, had influential friends on the admissions committee, etc., that still was wait-listed and eventually found out he wasn't accepted.

They will take into consideration your location (its good to be out of the New England/Tri-State areas), what your AA is in, letters of recommendation and academic standing. Transfers usually do not have their high school scores looked at; you can submit them and they will be glanced at. If you feel that you would like them to weigh more heavily your high school scores and record, let the counselor know that ahead of time. Consider including a note explaining why you feel this way. Follow up and ask for a phone interview or the ability to meet with alumni in the area who conduct interviews for the school.

Hope that helps! Good luck - Boston is great and BU is an awesome school!

You have a shot, but you never know until you get the letter. Have you interviewed? If not, you should. If you have, call the admissions office and ask to speak with your interviewer and explain the situation. S/he can give you a better insight. Also, ask your advisor from your school about his/her thoughts of your chances.

Good Luck!

This is actually a pretty tight fit. You do have a high change of making it though..

Are you referring to Boston Baptist College?
