She seriously makes this face liked you just ***** slapped her and says "I don't know what you're talking about" in this pain-stricken voice and acts like it's the most insane thing that the world could possibly conjure?

Being being a good parent is FAR more difficult than being a teenager !! Believe me on this !!

Some people just don't take criticism very well... for some it's because they heard too much of it growing up... for others it's because they never heard any... like my mother-in-law! She was an only child and it shows. She thinks she can do no wrong and would rather lie than admit to the smallest error. I'm sure your mother doesn't need therapy... just some patience and maybe a pat on the back for the stuff she got right. *wink*

I would say something about something here, but you've already anticipated what I was going to say and have already swelled with indignation, therefore I submit that I am a pompous bufoon and humbly apologize for any emotional pain I may have inflicted upon you by possibly saying that which I have not said for I anticipated that it would upset you and responded accordingly by not responding at all, excepting for this response responding that, were I to respond, your response would undoubtedly be one of indignation.

many people, including someone close to me, tend to overreact when someone simply states that a particular thing was obviously caused by their actions. while the rest of us should try not to focus on fault, i would have to say that persons with the personality type that you mention have been blamed for things quite a lot in their adolescence, and probably treated unfairly in other ways too. they seem to develop a "blame syndrome" or responsiblilty sensitivity.

does your mom have a domineering older sibling that she grew up with, or perhaps several such siblings? did your father always have the "upper hand" in their relationship? please respond to me by email, as I would really like to know.

thanks.

Guilty immoral people, genearlly do that. They prefer to lie. And they're almost always convincing, until they contradict themselves. But some tiems they ignore or don't catch the self contradiciton.

everyone can't handle criticism well. it could be your approach or phrasing. next time ask if maybe she might consider....then give your opinion. this allows her to remain in control by choosing your answer. good luck.
