Celebrity Web site TMZ.com posted portions of what it called the arresting deputy's original report, which said Gibson was abusive, shouted anti-Jewish slurs and boasted that he "owned Malibu." The TMZ report quoted Gibson as saying, "F..... Jews. The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." He then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"

Gibson has been an anti-Semitic nutjob for years. Nothing he's said recently surprises me. And that includes the fake apology.

Okay, first let's look at what was happening. He was Drunk! He has admitted this and he has apologized for his remarks and his bad behavior and he stated that he was glad that the deputy caught him before he could hurt anyone. I think that all people should be given a chance, when they admit they were wrong and ask for the forgiveness of the people they hurt. No I don't feel this way because it is Mel Gibson, because I don't feel this way for a football player who has been getting into more trouble than this, he bought alcohol for minors, he has a dui and he has been arrested for carrying a concealed weapon in two different states. He hasn't said that he was sorry, or stated that he has a problem or that he will be seeking treatment. Gibson said that he does have a problem and that he will be getting treatment. I wish him well in his attempt.

Don't you think that the media, especially celebrity tabloids like TMZ.com, tend to twist the truth about celebrities? I wouldn't trust what they say a bit. And if you do then you're very gullible. Wake up and smell the coffee!! Don't believe everything you hear!!!

Gibson's religious views are well documented as being totally wacky. When he made that fundamentalist film (The Passion) a couple of years ago he clearly showed his weird take on Judaism and Christianity.

Mel Gibson is an out-and-out anti-Semitic lunatic. He's 100% off-the-wall nuts and obsessed with Jews.

Anyone in Hollywood with any human decency will consider him persona non grata from now on.

(As if that hateful inciting movie he made wasn't enough)

Let's see, he was drunk. Drunk people are a**holes. If you asked him today what he said, he probably couldn't tell you. Haven't you ever gotten drunk and said something that you didn't mean or don't remember? It doesn't make it right, but at the same time I tend to cut the drunk ones a little more slack than the sober ones like say, Tom Cruise, and what he says about people.

The old fool's probably just trying to hang on to any dwindling popularity he can get.

With some of these celebs who've been popular for years, the thought of fading away is unthinkable to them. So they say and do controversial things to try and prevent themselves from becoming has-beens.

Madonna seems a classic example of this. Swearing on TV and getting banned from a network for it; snogging other female celebs in public etc.

It would be hypocritical if Hollywood condemns or ostracizes Mel Gibson. The movie industry is full of dopeheads and drunks. They better not look down their noses at him.

Unless I happen to see one of his movies for free on TV, I am boycotting his movies forever. This is the same stand I have taken re: Vanessa Redgrave since her remark about "Zionest Hoodlems" during the 1977 (?) Oscars.
