Bleach will work fine and get rid of any odor.

You must move quickly to remove the food supply. Maggots become flies in just a few short days. If the food supply is still present, the flies will lay eggs in the remnants of the turtle and start the cycle again:

If the carcass remnants are in a place that you can get to, spray the area down liberally with a 50% diluted solution of bleach and suck the area clean with a Shop-Vac nozzle, using a small brush for abrasion. Put a hose on the discharge of the Shop-Vac and run it to the garage or a window to keep from emitting toxic
fumes into a closed space.

If the carcass remnants are inaccessable, remove the sheetrock and access the dryer vent pipe from the opening. Cut out the affected section and replace with new material, sealing the joints with aluminum tape. Replace the sheetrock.

Poison is not the answer here for many reasons. You must remove all traces of the food supply to stop the breeding cycle of the housefly, and to keep from attracting other nasty creatures.

Hope this helps.

you'd have to take down the vent, and clean them out. It's not good to use household cleaning supplies, without rinsing out the vent, because the vent could be hot, and heat and chemicals dont mix. either case, you dont want to leave the dead maggots there either.

but normal everyday house hold products, like bleach, or window spray (dont mix the two please. bleach and window spray dont mix). You can use powder dish soap on the dead turtle, which poisons the food source, and they'd starve. just try every day products, but be sure th clean it out, before using the dryer.

IF you're afraid of touching them, it's probably easier to hire someone to come clean it, it shouldn't cost that much. and it's more sanitary.

omg how nasty, ewwwwwwwwwww i'd die. But suriously Maggots are pretty strong little buggers. I seriously doubt any chemicals will kill them. Try bleach, just poor pure bleach on them, or try salt. If you poor pure salt on a snail it kills them so try that and see if it works.

And I feel for you, one time I put potatoes under my kitchen sink and forgot them. 1 month later I opened the cabinet and stuck my hand down there and got a hand full of Maggots, I about freaked out.

i would think that you would smell a dead turttle, hmmm.

Anything that will kill wasps/bugs will work on maggots. Visit your local hardware store, they'll have what you need.

bleach, but to be honest, I'd probably just buy a new dryer!
