The ants are not harming the mums; they are after the aphids on the mums. Ants actually "herd" and protect the aphids, because the aphids produce a "honeydew" substance that the ants eat. So the problem you need to address is the aphids, not the mums.
I always prefer natural or organic solutions to pest problems when possible. No need to add to the pollution of the earth, or possibly harm the birds, your pets, or yourself. The coolest solution for aphids is ladybugs. If you see some around, just be patient - aphids are their favorite snack. The ladybug larvae, which remind me of miniature black and orange alligators, eat even more aphids than the adults.
If you don't seem to have any ladybugs around, you may be able to buy some at a local plant nursery; I've seen them at Home Depot before, too.
But if the ladybug solution doesn't seen do-able, try a soap spray. You can buy them commercially, already mixed and in a spray bottle, or you can make one yourself by mixing a very dilute mixture of plain liquid soap with water, putting it in a spray bottle, and spraying the plants. Don't spray the mums when the sun is shining directly on them; better to wait for evening. You may need to spray more than once, but it's better than chemical pesticides - cheaper, too!

Mix Ortho Orthene, pump of soap, and water in a one gallon sprayer and get after it. The smell is terrible but results great. Put down Top Choice (if you can find it) as a bait for the entire lawn. The rate is 2 or 3 lbs per 1000 feet in your spreader. A Scott's hand held spreader works GREAT. Do this 4 times per year, and you will not have any ant problems. Allow 5 or 6 weeks for results. If you can find Advion, results are within 24 hours, Spread rate is 3 lbs per acre so it goes a long way.

Ants will not kill your mums, BUT, I bet if you have ants then you gave Aphids and they will suck the chlorophyll and distort the shape of the leaves and flowers of your mums.
Ants use aphids like humans use cows for milk. So I am guessing Aphids.
Try using dish soap and water spray every day, after you wash the dishes. Or mix canola or corn oil 2 tablespoons with one quart of water and a drop of dish liquid and spray the plant daily, while checking for insects. It should not take long to rid the plants of Aphids, ants favorite desert!

Without playing games, don’t be available 100% of the time or let your life be an open book. A man that comes on too strong or doesn’t have outside interests will scare a woman away just as much as it would if the circumstances were reversed. Read here http://AttractAnyWoman.emuy.info/?bnqY
Women don’t want to feel as though they are completely responsible for your happiness and that is what it feels like when the other person has no outside interests. Men who are overeager or jump when the woman says jump are the ones who are more likely to end up in the friend zone. This doesn’t mean that you should play the game of not calling for a few days; it means that you should set healthy boundaries until you both naturally find a spot for the other in your lives.
