I bought my son and I each our first set of Pokemon cards over the weeekend. There is one thign I did not understand - the rules say when you defeat an opponents Pokemon, you take one of your prize cards. Neither deck of 60 cards is marked as a "prize" card. This leads me to believe 6 cards from your original deck get put down at teh begining as your prize cards, but the rules did not say this explicitly. (although the rules later implied this by saying you would not know what your prize card is until you took it). Can somebody explain to this Pokemon newbie the use of prize cards so my son and I can play. Thanks.

After both players have an active Pokemon both put the top 6 cards of their deck aside facedown. These 6 cards are your prizes.

You are right, before you draw any cards, you must first pick the top 6 cards off of your deck and use them as prize cards. Pokemon's a fun game, I love it.

You can choose any card. It doesn't matter. Just pick a card and just don't look until whomever wins. I don't play Pokemon, but I'm not gonna put it down. It's a fun game and kids love it. Have fun!!
