U. N. General Assembly Resolution 181 - This was the worst political decision of the 20th century. This is at the core of the issue. Over the last 60 years thousands of people have lost their lives on both sides as a result. Trying to get people after the fact, to agree to a resolution on which that did not participate is crazy. You can bomb them forever but they are never going to agree because of the way it was initially done. Wouldnt it just be easier to admit that creating Israel was wrong and move forward?

It was a BIG mistake!
dagblastit: (above) Don't blame the UN. When the UN wants to pass a resolution to stop the slaughter now, who is stopping them? The US.
The UN is not a country. It is made up of countries. They have passed nearly 140 resolutions for Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, and every time Israel, with Big Brother's backing, wipes its *ss with it. Or the US vetoes. And then Americans and Israelis accuse the UN of being ineffectual!
But the world is waking up to this manipulation. We are sick and tired of US and Israeli duplicity. Why is it that wherever you have a group of Jews in one place, trouble follows? And go ahead and accuse me of anti-Semitism, I regard it as realism.

Admit it all they want, the problem is they now exist and have the right to exist just like the Palestinians have the right to exist.
For the UN to have done this and then just stepped back and let things get this far is deplorable. The UN should be condemned for it. They are the reason it happened and because they have refused to send in troops with the rights to bear arms and use those arms to keep the peace it can only continue.
Israel starts to make a wall around their country, the UN condemns it even though it'll keep the suicide bombers out. Tells me the UN wants the suicide bombers to have access to Israel.
Israel sends troops into Gaza and Lebanon, the UN writes a piece of paper condemning Israel yet doesn't send in troops to stop it.
We have a totally worthless UN that won't do a thing to any country or try to actually stop a war.
I am soooooooo p______ off at the UN it just makes my blood boil as innocents on both sides die and are maimed because the gutless UN won't do what they KNOW they should do.

Gee, sounds like antiSemitism to me. Go back a century or two. How many Native Americans think that creating the United States was a mistake? Go back further, the Jewish people lived in the area they were ceded by the United Nations. They just got back what was taken from them a few thousand years ago.

Or better yet ... Acknowledge Israels right to exist and defend its self. Leave them alone and move forward.
