I need a fly mask for our horse. I want to get a long one with ears - but are long ones practical? Do they get ruined or ripped really easily?
Do the horses flip them up anyway?

Most horses leave them alone, mine was a litle long and the last inch rolled up but other wise it was fine-
Cashel sells a nice selection.

You should be able to find one with ears and also nose net attached in your local saddlery for about £15-£20.
I personally find that most horses get irritated and annoyed with the ear covers as they are either tight fitting or too loose, and also i don't use the nose net unless the horse has a allergy or head shaker.
You can pick up a decent fly mask which will com half way down the head, stiff on the eyes so no pressure for £10-£15 which will do the job just as well, as for ripping, unless the horse constantly rubs his head which you may find with ears on they should not rip it.
Hope this is of some help to you.
