Ok, here's the thing. First, you have to take in comparison what is "cool" where you live. If u are from a small town like I used to be from then A&F and Hollister is the best because they don't know better. American Eagle and Aero is what is concitered the "knock off I am poor but I want to be cool but i really have no f-in' clue what the hell I am doing really" look. LOL....

But here's the funny thing....

If you live in the BIG city, now all of the sudden the tables are SOOOOO compleatly turned on the A&F thing. In the city the best of the best are BIG fashion lables like Versache, Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel, True Religion Jeans, Seven for all Mankind Jeans--- the list goes on and on... Note that these are BIG BIG BIG expensive lables, usually people with ALOT of money wear these clothes but they will make you look like a millionaire.

Anyway back the tables being turned on A&F. In a small town where it is at the top, in the city it is at the bottom. My roommate explained to me that in the city high schools if u wear A&F basically you were concitered "I am poor trying to be cool but I am not REALLY rich and cool, i am just a wannabe" or "I am from a small town and have no idea what is going on in the world and I am destined to be clueless and working a crappy job for the rest of my life"

Which to me makes me smile because I think the people who wore A&F were a bunch of bitches who pushed people around and thought they were better than everyone else. In fact the ones who made fun of me for not giving a crap about lables are stuck in a small town for the rest of thier lives and I am actually doing something with my life. I had more things to worry about than clothes, parties, and if gold is the new silver.

Now---------- back to the it depends on where is concitered cool where you are from. Note that the fashions I just mentioned are more based for white america. If you are of african decent then OMFG it is a WHOLE new ballgame. They have a complete special section of cloths that they are interested in. I guess they just have different tastes and stuff that white people like don't appeal to them!! Some cool clothes they like to wear, for girls that is, would be applebottom jeans. These I know are popular with black girls because it is more fitted for their specal booties! If you are one of the few white girls with a big booty (like me!!) then these will make you look great!) Some other cool clothes would be Fubu. But that's all I can recall right now.

If you are more of the darker inclined, then you want gothic style. This isn't what MAINSTREAM america conciteres "cool" but nonetheless some people do think it is cool. Again this is a matter of where you come from. If you live in a small town or a small city then Hot Topic is cool. If you are from a big city like chicago like me then u will get scowled at and concitered "a poser" if you are caught wearing Hot Topic. Why? Because people from the city are smart enough to figure out that A&F and Hot Topic are the same company, but just 2 different stores. Also Hot Topic is very quote "fashionable" and the point of being goth is to be AGAINST the mass of america. Basically, buying hot topic goes AGAINST EVERYTHING goth is about...

But to conclude this novel about "cool" let me remind you ONE THING. What is TRUELY cool is who you are and if you are TRUE to who and what you are. If you a person who really don't care about what's cool, then you try to dress preppy just because you want to fit in, then you're not really cool. No amount of clothes, no pricetag, no label will EVER make you "cool". It is about yourself. I remember this one guy at my highschool TRIED SOOOO hard to be "cool". He did the whole A&F bit.... he STILL got his @$$ beat at school daily. Why? because he just wasn't "cool". He was dumb and he got on everyone's nerves. That and he tried to prove all the time that he was "cool" and people just DON'T want to hear it.

If you are true to yourself with no regrets you will get respect. Which is ALWAYS cool. It may take a while, and it might sound cheesy, but damn it--- it's the honest truth.

I find hand-made stuff cool. I find it on eBay, or I just get a tank top from Old Navy, some lace, sequins, ribbons and beads from Hobby Lobby and made my own, unique clothes.
