Who is funnier - Steve Martin or Rodney Dangerfield?

I like Steve Martin over Rodney Dangerfield. But I think Bill Cosby is better, or Danny Kaye or even Bob Hope.

Steve Martin. At least he can be funny in a lot of ways. Rodney Dangerfield could only do his "I don't get no respect" act. A little of that went a long way. Of course, Rodney's not too funny now - he's dead.

Steve Martin is a wild and crazy guy, but Rodney gets no respect, so I vote Rodney.
Plus I used to work mowing Rodney's lawn, and when he was home he'd always come outside and say "Hey kids, don't #@$ up the lawn!" Made us crack up every time. :-)

~steve martin has more kid funny humor, rodney dangerfield more adult humor. i really like steve martin, especially in father of the bride & cheaper by the dozen.~

If those are my choices -- and they are because of your question -- I'd choose Rodney, but only because his style appeals to me more than the style of Steve. The humor level is about the same for both as far as I'm concerned and I think that level is very low.
Steve Allen is by far my preference in comics.

steve martin's perormance in all elements of theatre are much better than anything of late that i've seen rodney do..
