Ask any real Estate agent where the best place is. They will know for sure. I had to do so with my house, so I asked the estate agent we purchased through. He gave me the correct office to go to.

The local courthouse has a copy of everyone's property deed and easements. They would be glad to make you a copy. That way you can find the permanent pins that should still be in the ground and remeasure the boundaries. The permanent pins look like landscape nails and are not supposed to be removed.
