In your opinion, which artists perform well live? There are some bands I enjoy listening to at home on CD but I've gone to concerts and have been sorely disappointed. Who puts on a great show? What's the best concert you've been to?

In answer to Punchline of the Joke's question, I like a variety of music. I find myself drawn to indie rock, power pop, alternative rock, (mostly rock). But I also listen to rap, classical, jazz, etc. I guess I just like listening to things I haven't heard before. Thanks for those who have answered. I'm trying to find some of the stuff I haven't heard before. If I like it, I'll check to see if they're performing here. :D

As for one man shows, no one can come near Chris Chameleon. Probably the best single performing artist in the world. Though I am a huge Iron Maiden fan as well, and they never disappoint when you go to their concerts. Alice Cooper real goes out and still stays true to the shock rock tradition. Metallica even at their most primal level never let me down at a concert before. Rammstein always make sure you go through a story like atmosphere and fails to disappoint.

One of my favorite bands to see live was Sky Cries Mary. They're a Seattle group and they broke up a while back, but I heard somewhere that they're getting back together. Anyway, I've seen them three times in the past, and they always put on a real show. Their music is sort of psychidelic, and the lead singer always has some funky costume on and dances and everything. It's not just music, but it's not over the top either. Perfect in concert!

Evanescence is amazing live, Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult were a good show. Heart puts on a good show, as do Rush and Pink Floyd. Most of the newer bands just don't have it live.

Believe it or not... Kelly friggin' Clarkson is amazing in concert!! Way more rock than people would ever guess. She has a real Janet Joplin vibe, because she's so intense. Awesome show!!! And her vocals are dead on... I was floored.
