Yuri is an americanized form of a Japanese word meaning "girl's love". It's basically anime or manga (anime stories), either produced by professional anime people or, more often than not, written by fans, depicting girls in romantic (or sometimes sexual) relationships with each other. Sometimes it's PG and sometimes it's XXX. The other side of this is Yaoi, or "boy's love", and it's the same thing with boy anime characters.

Yuri is usually used in anime in regards to hentai with two girls, but it also means in a looser context any anime with lesbians. Yaoi means male gays.
