The question should be "good for a 13 year old, advanced or beginneer player". Advanced players should definately be using heavier racquets. The heavier racquet will make him stronger and help maintain proper stroke mechanics. Lighter racquets tend to more powerful and not so easy to control but easier to swing.

If it feels comfortable for your 13 yr. old that should be okay. Let the kid hit with the racquet and see how he/ she likes the feel of it. My daughter (5', 110 lbs.) uses my racquet a Head intelligence i.Prestige - 12.1 oz. It works for her.

An 11.4 oz. racquet is extemely likely to be too heavy for a 5' child, boy or girl. Come to think of it, it's probably too heavy for most adults.

For children, stick to a racquet weighing between 9.5 and 10.5 oz. unstrung.

That may be a bit heavy for him. He should demo a couple of lighter frames and see what he thinks.

It depends if he can swing with that racket. Because sometime it's too heavy and sometime it's too light. So he has to try it before.

It depends on him. He needs to get the right balance with the racket. He needs to feel if it fits for him or not.

It depends does he feel pain in his wrist when he swings if he does get a lighter raquet.
