I'm not trying to sound like an jerk or anything but I really honestly feel that Americans have gas pretty inexpensively right now. Gas prices never were that horrible until the AMERICAN president decided that it was best to invade the Middle East and "poke at the coal" a little bit in order to really spark a big explosion there. If gas keeps going through the roof here, I may have to go personally to the US and thank Mr. Bush for causing CANADIAN gas prices to sky rocket.
Not long ago I remember paying 86 cents a litre for gas... that was less than a year ago. While Americans are paying about $2.60-$3.20 (American) a gallon, most Europeans are paying close to $8 (American) a gallon, and here yesterday, I paid $1.199 (Canadian) a litre which is $4.02 (American) a gallon. I'm really not complaining about what I had to pay, I mean, look at our poor European friends paying close to $8!
I have 5 small kids, 6 in October, so I recently had to trade in my smaller car for a somewhat bigger one so I can go anywhere with the kids. Now we try to walk as much as we can to save a bit on gas. I think that if Americans are so torn up about paying $3 a gallon they should try walking more or taking a bike if they can.

The real question is "Do Americans need to save on gas?" and if we answer that in the affirmitive, then the next question would be why. If you say we need to save because the price is too high, then we need to ask why it is high. Let's take California for example, with the nations highest fuel prices. Why are they so high. Because supply is less than demand. Why? Because we aren't producing enough. Why? Clean air act mostly. 70% of the fuel sold in California is produced in California, only about 30% comes from foreign sources. But we can't drill in Alaska and send oil down the pipeline to be refined. Why not? Well, it might bother a caribou. Oh really?

First off USA needs to stop making the big GAS PIGS. The way things are going they have to stop, if all the other Countries do with out them we can too!!!! This country's # 1 thing is to make money no matter what the cost. So companies have convinced US people that they need more and bigger. Until these co. stop pushing the Big stuff it will not happen. And when it comes to the Government and Oil Co. Do u really think that they want their huge paychecks cut. NO>

Ride a bike. The way it would work is simple. You ride the bike INSTEAD of driving a car. You see, bicycles don't use gasoline so that would save on gas. But that will never work in a country that supersizes everything. It's hard to ride a bike if it's stuck in your fat crack. The only practical thing to do is develop real electric vehicles. But they will still have to be massive SUV's, just powered by electricity, not gas.

There are 2 suggestions that come to brain. The first is to get out of the automobile. Walk on journeys which are 2 miles or much less in distance. This is whilst fuel is so much inefficient. Second, spend money on a automobile that makes use of choices. I am now not telling you to eliminate SUVs. I nonetheless use our minivan for taking greater than 4 passengers wherever or tenting journeys. I use our compact automobile for journeys for our loved ones simplest. Our compact spends 36 mpg and our minivan will get 24mpg. As quickly as our price range permit, we're relocating to hybrid autos. Hope that is helping.

I was watching the Discovery Channel on night and they showed a car that can run off water...but to answer this question do you know how much money the government gets off the sell of gas..they won't quit using gas for that reason as long as they can make money off of it they will use it and if it means the destruction of the world so be it as long as they get paid I don't think they care.

carpooling obviously, which many are doing cuz i pass by them every day and they are filled to the max and the city has already expanded them
also buying more vheicals that get about 25 - 35 mpg instead of suv's and mini vans that only get 9 - 10 mpg.
rollerblading, biking, walking, public transportation.
some might try finding jobs closer to home. starting home buisnesses. shopping online instead of going to the store 2 -3 times a week, only go when u need something right away.

If the money spent on the bloody Iraq quagmire had been spent on solar panels, every house in America could be solar powered now. Then you get a small electric car and drive for free.

The best way to save on gas would be to outright kill any "con"gressman or worman that allows profit mongering. That is when gas company makes 10 BILLION dollars in profit in 3 months. This is known as profit mongering and is supposedly illegal under our government. Payoffs disguised as campaign contributions anyone.

Solar power seems to be the best answer. You just have to get the government to agree to invest in it. There are already reports of people with solar panels that is supplying all of their power, why can't the government take that technology and use it??!!!
