Yes, it can be done. It is known as an avulsion of the eye and can happen in a number of ways. Some individuals, namely unrestrained or poorly restrained mental patients, do occassionally pull out their own eye or even eyes. The prognosis depends upon the amount of damage done not only to the eye, but also to the optic nerve, surrounding muscles, and to the eye orbit itself. Individuals may retain some vision (rare) and if so will report extreme double vision and distortion of vision from the affected eye. That is, of course, excepting the cases of mental patients. They usually just scream.

NO! there are tissues and muscles and nerves that attaches it to the socket and at the back of the eyeball
