But I cant find the thermostate for the hot water heater...any ideas of where it may be?

I unscrewed one of the pannels on the hot water heater that I saw and there was foam under it and I didnt wanna pull it off ya know...

SO anyone have any idea cause our showers are slightly warm and our faucets take forever to get hot.

it is in the bottom cover behind the foam and insulation pull that away and you will see it set the temp at 110 . the heat rods out if water not getting hot or the tank is full of junk and will need replaced if that dont fix it

I assume your hot water heater is electric, so first turn the power off at the breaker. Then remove both panels. Move the foam stuff out of the way to access the thermostats. You will then need to take a small flat blade screwdriver and turn the thermostat to the desired setting. It is important both thermostats are pointing to the same setting. Put everything back and turn the power back on.

Continue to use your hot water as usual. You will not notice any difference in temperature however until the following day. (You must use up all the water currently in the heater)

This will cool off the showers and save on your electric bill. There isn't anything you can do about your faucets though. The reason it takes a while is because the hot water that is currently in the tank must reach the faucet before you feel the warmth.

One thing you can do to help speed this up is to insulate your hot water pipes, but you will need a little patience no matter what.

I think everyone is missing the problem. You have a burned out element in your water heater. I believe you have an electric water heater. Pull both covers and before you adjust the temp. Remove the 2 wires to each element and use a cheap meter from wall mart to check the elements. Or just drain the tank and pull them and you can tell. just replace the gaskets when you put them back in. You can get elements and gaskets from most any hardware store. You will see , thats your problem. Good luck Bud

it should be at the base of the unit, there should be a big dial that says hot and hotter. in some houses it will take a gallon or 2 to get hot water if the tank is 15 feet or so away. the hotter is is the more energy you use and the more chance of scalding.

I believe it is on the bottom front.
It is a box that has a dial on the front that
looks like a safe knob or a dial padlock.
Read the knob to see what it is set on,
Low or Very Hot, just turn the knob to where
you want the temp of your water.
On top of that box there is a knob that you
turn on for the pilot light.

There are one or two small rectandular covers on the outside of your water heater, held on by two screws --remove covers & inside one of them is a small leaver you can move left or right to your own setting. { P S} remove the fiberglass you call foam to get to it.
