are you trying a fresh install? and if so are you using a upgrade xp disk or the full version, if the upgrade version, and you do not have any windows on your system, you will need a windows install disk any version plus the upgrade disk you are loading on, the upgrade only needs to verify if you have a previous version it really does not care if it is on the hard drive or not. just know allot of programs and things will be missing, after you start it up, it will run just fine you will have to add all the goodies on your self later. if you have the win 98 disk you are better of to load it on first, the load xp over it, to get the best results.
