It's fun, and there are worse ways to spend a few hours.
Some people spend the afternoon bouncing and throwing a ball ... and they next week they do the same thing, only the people that were their opponents last week are their teammates this week ...
Some people spend Sunday afternoon getting drunk and watching TV, and when their favorite team or player doesn't win they hit their spouses and/or kids ...
Like anything else, an activity is not good or bad by itself; it's only good or bad depending what it's used for. Yes, there is a ton of BS on here, but occasionally you can learn something, or offer a kind word to someone who needs it.
Smile! If you can afford to spend hours on here, your life is pretty good.

I don't think it's wasted time. It's fun. I get a few good laughs. Some of the questions really interest me, and I find myself doing research. Many questions I just pass up, but there are some very interesting categories that can spike the creative and the intellectual imagination. I'm not necessarily looking for people who agree with me. In and amongst the rubbish, there's some good stuff, I suspect that if it were removed, we'd miss it initially and then move on to something else.

Well if your displeased then you should quit but I love Yahoo question and answers. I love the different questions I get and I, personally don't ask questions that most people already know the answer too because I ask questions that are real. I would miss Yahoo questions and answers allot. The point system makes people competitive and want to compete. And the awards aren't all that bad. Yes, it's not a cash award but actually its better because its self gratifying. If you don't find this and are bored then you should leave because your a drag and I don't want to hear you complain! So, just go away! your irritating me! I speak for all the other Yahoo members who actually enjoy this program.

I for one, because I can only speak for myself, like this sight because I honestly like being the dispenser of advice whether accepted or not. I find this site interesting, amusing at times, and informative. It's a great place to come to to ask questions or answer them all without being seen!. You remain anonymous. Makes it much easier to ask your questions in privacy that you wouldn't necessarily ask.
No. I would not miss this site if it were shut down. I have other sites of interest that I could gravitate to. Actually, I think that I would miss it a little but not that much.
The points are only to get you to each level plus it's kind of gratifying when you get that ten points for a question you answered because you know your answer was worth something to the person who asked it.

To enhance our mind by answering diffeerent types of questions and meeting different people on line. Its interesting, rather than consuming our times taking drugs and doing nonsense. We got rubbish answers sometimes, because these people are in the early stage of learning. We need the points to inspire participants and we will surely miss it when removed.

We answer these questions, because we have nothing else to do. And if they did take away Yahoo Answers, we probably would not care. So, just sit back and enjoy all the rubbish you recieve. Got the picture, then just agree with it.

You have a major point. I spend a lot of time on the computer working and when I get bored with work, I just come here and waste time.

I dont think it is a waste of time. there have been some good and interesting questions. i have learned a few things i must admit..even if it was about human nature..and what people are thinking. it has opened my eyes to prejudice..loyalty... american pride..family values..and what is on the minds of some young people. i would miss it. it is not about points. i dont think you give enough credit to some people on here. and variety is what makes this a great world. we have intellectuals, silly, ignorant, honest , dishonest..mean,nice and clueless..all balled into one big site. i think it is pretty cool.

Really you don't get a prize they don't even send kudos's. But in my case I have bad fingers and the keyboard is exercises. The stupid questions and answers increase in endorphins that make me happy and mostly may pain meds are hid in a box by the computer and yahoo is my home page and mailbox. Have a good one.

we all spend as much time as we do on here for one reason. the quest for knowledge. not the knowledge we ask of others, but the knowledge we gain using other peoples answers as a window into ourselves. answering and asking questions are mainly for self knowledge. every now and then we do ask a question based on current events and that is to solve problems, but for the majority we are on here to learn who we ourselves are.
