Sure you can. I have dial up and I have an iPod myself. My computer has a 56k modem, so that is helpful. When I download songs, I try not to download too many at a time--no more than 5 at the max. That way it won't take forever to download.

Besides that, your daughter can download CDs she already has to her iPod, so it won't go to waste.

ha .. yea .. only cus i know if i would want one .. but it sure does suck downloading music with dial-up .. takes like 30 minutes for 1 song .. just pay 15 dollars a month for DSL .. or get the 3 in 1 package from Verizon or bright house(time Warner)

Sure, if that is what she would like. Dial-up is just slower then DSL or cable, and you may want to put limits on the amount of time and what hours she is on iTunes downloading.

I believe that if you have enough money to buy an iPod that you also have enough money to get a faster connection. It is a good idea to have a faster connection if you want to use the iPod to its fullest potential.

Yeah...you can upload songs that you already on (on cd's) so it is fine. I am sure she has some friends who have DSL or cable internet if she really needs to download. Plus if you live in a city that has an APPLE store she can download there.
