My privacy, the great outdoors, the wildlife, growing my own fruits and vegetables, my chickens providing me with eggs and entertainment. My pond. My children growing up in a unpolluted more natural environment.

Today my sky is blue and I planted a few more perennials.
My two dogs quietly followed me around the yard helping of course.
Then I watched the fish in the pond search for bits to eat in the string algae, my dogs helped me do that also. I slow cooked ribs on the grill, while I watched my new neighbor try to be FARMER BRIAN on his new lawn tractor. I saw a mother and small daughter go by on a bicycle built for two.
My home is not expensive or grand, but my neighbors are nice, and the town is quiet and safe for families. We even have a pregnant Police officer! There is an annoying concert every Wednesday on the town common, and I only lock my doors at night! What more could I ask for?

I love my yard. I have spent 20 years developing it into an oasis of serenity. I have a pond with about 18 goldfish of varying sizes, water lilies, cannas, and other plants growing in and around it. I have a garden swing and benches near the pond so my family and friends can enjoy it, too. I have bird feeders that you can see from there, and the finches, especially, are so entertaining as they hang in all directions on the thistle seed feeder. Every afternoon, gentle breezes cool the area, and we sit outside and enjoy the scene. Right now, the lilies are in full bloom, and they send a powerful fragrance throughout the yard. I also have phlox, hydrangeas, roses, morning glories, passion flowers, and dozens of other flowering plants. Most are in soothing shades of blue, purple, pink, red, and white. My yard makes me slow down and savor the beauty of the world and my little part of it. I stop to observe the angle of the sun, the clouds, the color of the sky, and the beauty of being alive to appreciate it all.

The shade from my trees, my rose bushes that just beckon you to lay in the hammock and enjoy their sweet smell. My orange tree knowing that come this winter each morning I can make fresh juice, my mulberry tree and my daughter that is stained red from eating all the berries, I love my plants and I love my daughter out there enjoying all the hard work that I do.
