Perhaps, but you can find fun non-drinking things to do like taking tours. Don't compromise your progress and health.

On top of what everyone else said, surely your family knows what you are going through and will be supportive, right? They won't be dragging you to all the local bars, will they? As for being in a place where temptation is everywhere: You have been strong since February, despite having had the opportunity to go to local pubs and bars, or simply picking up a six-pack in the shops. You can be so proud of yourself. My mum's partner is an alcoholic, and he's been sober for 15 years now. Even today he says he sometimes has real trouble resisting the temptation of 'just one drink'. He is amazing for staying sober and staying strong through all the dramas my family has faced through the years(including losing his mum). And you can do the same, you can stay strong. Every time you get tempted just think what your life would be like if you gave in. There's no such thing as 'just one won't do any harm' - it sure would!!! Make sure while you are on holiday that you have plenty to keep you busy all day, have a nice meal at night and I'm sure you will have a great time. And if it all does get too much, just take an earlier flight home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Stay strong, it will save your life!

To tell you the truth, as a recovering alcoholic, I would be very weary. You haven't been sober all that long and the temptations will be tremendous. The fact that you are traveling as a family group is a very mitigating circumstance, and, if in fact, they are supportive, you might well manage it and have a great time. There is so much to do and see that does not involve alcohol.
In the final analysis, it is up to you.
Might be well better to go than stay at home alone hanging around. In my circumstances that was a greater temptation.
Under no circumstances try the retsina. This local pine resin wine is the foulest tasting, biggest hangover delivering drink that I can think of. If you slip, it would probably cure you for ever.
Good luck, brother, and I'll be pulling for you.

I don't know how strong your will is, but as for being a killjoy, Greece is just as enjoyable without a drop of alcohol as it is with alcohol. I'm sure your family will be happy to skip the retsina and krasi at dinner. You can still have frappe. In fact, get the sweetened frappe. It might help stem your cravings.
Best of luck to you.

I know it'll probably be difficult in some respects, but when you're on holiday there is such a lively , fun and chilled out atmoshere without the use of alcohol. Hopefully alcohol won't be much of an issue when you're out there as you'll be so busy exploring where you are and doing other fun things. I would rather have holiday memories from a sober perspective rather than a drunken one, you'll have more fond memories that way rather than it passing in a drunken haze. Enjoy your holiday.

Might be mate.
But it's quite fun being the only sober person, you'll be amazed at the stupidity of drunks and the boring inane stuff that they find fascinating

It is all a state of mind. Determine that you are going to have fun and decide that you won't want to drink. If you convince yourself it will be awful, it will. Decide.
