Most likely, yes, Sheffield will be the odd man out next season ... but I think the move indicates that the Yankees don't believe Sheffield will be back this year and may have lingering problems into next year that could eventually lead to his retirement.
Don't be surprised if you've seen the last of Gary in not just pinstripes, but in any uniform on a full-time basis.

"Daniel Z" is the biggest loser ever. First of all, Sheffield is expected back in like 2 weeks, but nothing is sure. And when he comes back, he will DH some, then vis-versa for the rest of the season because they are both Right-fielders, but big Bobby can DH too.
