Given that the supply of oil at current supply usage is not likely to last 30 years and will become a BIG problem way before that and givn the fact that a lot of Muslim states produce oil and a lot of Non Muslim states Really need it.

How long do you think it will be that the "petty squabbles" (not that I deminish the meaning of the suffering and loss of life) will become Real OIL WARS?

Or is it just me who can forsee this in the next 10 years or so.

I can see America giving the Big finger to the rest of the world and the UK following like a lap dog.

I believe in about 20 years there will be outbreaks of war across the world over water and other resources besides oil.Add the threat from global warming and the future won't be a very happy place to live in.China will be requiring all the same stuff the USA gluttonously consumes. That will tip the world into instability unlike the world has ever witnessed. The world simply has too many people being born and too much waste, poluting, and ecosystem destruction to be healthy. It will destroy society and no amount of wealth or intelligence will prevent it so developed countries better find progressive leaders fast and remove all neoconservatives like George W. Bush.

You could be right, although I hope not. I'm planning to move to the Canadian wilderness, or Siberia, where I intend to grow a beard and shoot my food.

There could be war, but I imagine China and India will somehow be involved, given that they are going to be the next world superpowers. They are also producing an enormous demand for oil which they may only be able to satisy through armed conflict. This isn't to say the US or Britain will be standing twidling their thumbs - both are formidable opponents to any country.

I think we should be investing in ways to reduce our dependency on oil as a way to side step war. Even the strongest nation, who beats all and takes all the oil will eventually run out. What are they going to do then?

So you have just woken up to this? Oil belongs to the whole world not just the countries under whose soil it exists. It is like water, for survival. Have a little quiet think about it.
