In my whole life, so far, I can honestly say that I have had four real friends all of which I've now parted with, some on bad terms, some on good, but I'll never ever hate them and still care for them just as I did when we were friends - it's a shame that things end up so badly.

I think if a person has a least one real friend it would count and be wonderful. It's hard to make real friends and keep them forever or at least many years. Some people are friends since super young and after many years of friendship something gets in the way and they don't keep in touch. So, I'd have to say, none. A person has at least no real friends at all. Many people are loners.

I guess that depends on the individual, and on your own personal definition of a true friend. The way i see it, life is a bit like a train journey; people get on and off at different stops, some of them leave things behind, memories, heartaches, whatever, and some of them may just as well as not got on the train, they're insignificant. The thing is, as much as we'd like to stop the train sometimes, or have someone get back on, or push someone off, all is as it should be for you right now, its all part of the plan, and the train has to keep on going until it reaches its destination. Therefore, i suppose i personally would describe a true friend as someone who, however long they shared my journey, touched my heart in a way so many of the passengers didnt.

That depends on the person. But there are always people who are pretending to be your friend, but won't be there when you really need them. So I would say, at any given time, a person has 1/2 to 3/4 the "real friends" that they think they do.

aware that you may need them again ,
has they may need you again
this is a stabily relationship,

and none of there weakness's
A Always friend, is a friend for life

they will go out of there way to protect you from harm

apparently if you go back to real primal instincts in humans (back to when we were monkeying around) the maximum amount of aquaintances you can have and keep well (i.e., maintain a decent level of attention) is about 50. over that and people start to drop off and you acquire new ones. apparently this has continued in our natures and thats why when people move round the not so close ones drop off and you get new ones. if you really think about your circle of friends, I bet you'll name about 50 true CURRENT friends/ close acquaintances maximum. true and close buddies - i'm really really lucky and I have about 6 or 7 and then about 12 quite close buddies. but I am very lucky and I am really grateful for them :)

By real, does that mean close? I would say 2 or 3.

I would say you are really lucky if you maybe have five real friends in your lifetime. I have three real true friends that I can count on at any given time.
