Here are your options. Please remember that 20 gallon tanks do not offer ventilation, so you will have to clean the cage more often.
*Sugarglider (if you get it out often)
*Bearded Dragon
*Hamster
*Rat
*guinea pig (if you switch the cage once it gets older)
*Turtle
*Snake
*frog
*Make it a terrarium, put in snails, worms ect.

A lizard or snake or turtle. Oh, and by the way....a shark IS a fish....and don't put rats in tanks...or any rodents for that matter, because tanks cannot get air through them and the ammonia from rodents' urine can get super stinky in tanks, much stinkier than cages.

Fish tanks are poor housing for many animals:

TURTLES need more space- you need at least 10 gallons of swimming space per INCH of turtle, so a 3/4 filled 20 gallon tank only holds 1.75% of turtles.

BOX TURTLES and TORTOISES also need more space, and fresher air.

The lack of good airflow makes this a poor cage for many animals- rodents, many lizards, hermit crabs, etc., but it makes it great for plants.

Hermit Crabs! They are SO fun to watch, and you can fit about 8-10 in a 20 gallon tank. You need a hood on it, because they need moist air.
