Four years undergrad
Four years med school
Two years residency
In undergrad you usually major in a science, they have specific pre med programs in undergrad.
It is a good profession, but you are on call for emergency operations and that can be brutal. These emergencies can come up in the middle of the night after you have worked all day that day. You are usually on a rotation for that call.
The salary is very very high

It's an excellent profession if you can stand the smell of an operating room at the hospital, cause that's where you'll be spending most of your time. There has to be an anesthesiologist at every operation performed by each doctor in every hospital in the country, so you can be in very high demand. I don't know what the salary range is, but I'm thinking it's a fair size chunk of money, I know a couple of these folks and they seem to live quite well. Probably any good med. school can get you started.

Good medical schools are all over the country! Yes, it's a great profession. I don't know how long it takes to become one; probably as long as a "regular" doctor (since you would be a doctor!). Salary would depend on who hires you!!!

You might want to learn to spell the word before you become one. an anesthesiologist is a doctor who has specialized in anesthesiology. it takes 4 years of pr-med, 4 years of medical school, and between 2 and 4 more years of specialization. They make from $60,000 to $200,000 a year depending on where they work. but nearly half that goes to malpractice insurance.

That is the highest paid profession there is. (not including actors, atheletes, entertainers, etc.) Roughly $400K - $1 million per year depending on location.
4-years of college
4-years of medical school
3-years residency
3-years specialized training in anesthesiology
In college you'll want to major in some form of biological science.
Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, etc.

anesthesiology is a branch of medicine, you need to be a doctor or a nurse to be one.
Nurse anesthetists do not get paid as well as doctors who choose the field, but they don't spend as much time in school either. Suggest you talk with a college counselor to help you make the decision.

It takes the same amount of time as it does to become any kind of doctor. Do pre-med and then go to med school. Cornell is good and Columbia.

Also factor in huge malpractice insurance costs. Anaesthesiologist, ob-gyne, and orthopedic surgery are at the top of the list.
