I would clean with a spot treater, blot dry until you can't get anymore out....as far as the odor I'd use vinegar, it seems to do well with pet accidents.

As far as the pet not peeing again, that is cruel and unusual punishment, EVERYONE needs to void several times a day, would you like me to put a cork in you? If you mean you don't want the pet to do it in the house, don't let them in the house - problem sovled!

I use the Resolve pet odor spray stuff and also the pet odor stuff they make that goes in the cleaning machine then I spray the carpet with Febreze, finally I spray just a little Listerine on the spot so the dog doesn't even want to go near the spot again.

I tried everything but the odor never came out. All kinds of carpet shampoo meant for pet accidents and I tried febreeze. The odor was still noticable. My carpet was a 9 x 12 area rug so I took it outside, used detergent and hosed it out, left it in the sun to dry...there was still an odor. I threw our carpet out and suggest you do the same.

If its wall to wall carpet with a pad, its probably already soaked through to the pad and if you have hardwood floors, they'll also absorb the urine and the worst enemy of hardwood floors is wetness so your floors will turn dark besides smelling. Save your floors and save the cost of trying all those products. Tear it out, replace it or go without carpet. Put up a pet gate and keep the dog out of the carpeted areas of your home.

Use white vinegar and blot it up, then shampoo the carpet.

This will work only if the urine hasn't soaked into the carpet padding. If it's done that, you'll have to replace the carpet.

To clean & deodorize I'd use Urine Gone. It's available at Wal-Mart and K-Mart. Your local pet store should sell repellants.

Planeturine.com. I have not personally used their product, but several people (breeders) on my dog fourm swear by it.
