Hello, ladies. My fiance and I are going to try to conceive within the next 6 months. So I'm wondering how many of you ladies had a pre pregnancy checkup? And is it worth it?

I don't think that you need a pre-check up. Just make sure you're living a healthy lifestyle. You should also start taking prenatal vitamins. Good luck on conceiving

I had a pre-marriage/sex checkup. Which ended up being a pre-pregnancy checkup too, since I got pregnant a couple months later. Anyway, I would say it's worth it to know that everything is the way it should be. And you don't have to worry as much about getting pregnant and then finding out something is wrong.

You don't have to have one, but it's probably not a bad idea. My gynecologist/obstetrician prescribed me some prenatal vitamins when I told them I was trying to get pregnant.

Also, they can do some blood tests to see if you're a carrier for certain types of genetic birth defects.

For peace of mind, I don't see what the harm would be in getting checked out first.

Good luck!

Yes and it is very worth it to me because I needed to be sure I was healthy enough to support another life. Good luck and take care of yourself.

i had one, and i'm glad i did... my OBGYN told me when to stop birth control, when to start trying to get pregnant... all those timeline issues matter, they're more likely to generate a safer pregnancy.
