It is my understanding is that this whole thing started as a Hezbollah plan for a "prisoner swap" in an effort to get some of their people in Israel out of prison. They have done this before and sadly, Israel negotiated and freed some prisoners.
So, wouldn't it have made more sense to just kill 8 prisoners? Six for the ones killed in the kidnapping and 2 for the kidnapped soldiers. Yes, this might be the death of the two hostaged soldiers, but it would have saved all the civilians and foiled the Hezbollah plan, making them empotent.
I know the international community would have cried and whined about it, but perhaps it would have prevented future acts of terrorism such as the one perpretated by this cowardly group of heavily armed thugs who hide behind children.

So, no one is telling me that the kidnapping of the soldiers did NOT happen in an effort to orchestrate a prisoner swap.

And some of you defend the kidnapping and the murder of soldiers, but somehow the killing of prisoners would be wrong?!
Of course it would be wrong! This is all wrong.

The smartest thing said below is that the Israel is just so far outnumber that you can't go "eye for eye". That makes sense.

However, I believe NONE of this would be happening now if the there had been no release of Hezbollah prisoners in the past and if Iran didn't need a distraction from it's nuclear program.

Oh, and if the UN had gonads enough to actually secure that southern border left in control of Hezbollah this whole thing would be a mute point.

What if the solders were your brother or husband.
Israel can't kill tit for tat. it would lose. Israel is out numbered 100 to one. You may notice no El Al planes have been attacked. Israel has been fighting terrorism longer than anyone. We can learn from them.

You are correct , all terrorist should be executed. Let them out, they kill again and use children as human shields. I have been in combat and have killed but I did not hate my enemy. For the first time in my life, I hate.

You should become a representative at the UN and solve the rest of the worlds problems by killing people in prisons to solve the worlds problems. This is about as sick as hez's logic of kill all the jews... You need to think hard about your obviously flawed logic... or we can give you the gun and you can put the gun to a fellow human beings head and pull the trigger and watch their brains splatter on the wall... If you start doing that then Hez will start pulling people off the street and putting a trigger to their head and pulling the trigger like they do in Iraq right now. Then where does it stop... your still alive with an empty gun and their gathering up more victims... Look what happened in seattle... your not in this alone, you basically set up every jew around the planet with that logic... if they don't care about children even their own then what makes you think they really care about a bunch of prisoners that they have already written off as martyrs. This is a complex problem that will only be resolved by sitting down and listening by both sides. Israel ignores the problem, Lebanon ignores the problem, Palastine compounds the problem and the Arabs and Americans sit back and ignore the problem until something threatens the flow of oil.

No that would not solve anything really. War is painful and it is not the best way to resolve conflicts. However terrorism in the middle east has to stop. It is spreading like cancer all over the world. If Israel had done what you are saying, do you honestly think that Hezbollah would have stopped provoking a fight? Do you really think that Hezbollah would have walked away and said OK we are even? It is unfortunate that children are suffering because grown ups can't problem solve. Hezbollah's are belligerent war mongrels that loves to terrorize people. No self respecting people are going to hide amongst children using them as human shields. Anyone that uses woman and children to further their sick ideas are cowards; not mortars.

It is very sad to see someone show their ignorance and at the same time put their foot into their mouth.

Lady, you need to listen to the news, read books/magazines, do some history studies, listen to the different political issues from around the world and become some what informed before you offer opinions.

Too, WAR is wrong PERIOD. There are no sweet kind, fair ways to fight a war. You take out EVERYBODY, dog, cat, baby, mother, woman, boy, man, child. Then you go to the grave yard and blow up the dead. You do not give your enemy a chance.
NOT ONE!

Better still, do not go to war! It does not solve anything!

If you have never been shot at, or had your comrade die in your
arms then SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People fail to understand that this is how people in the Middle East have fought wars for centuries. It is not some new occurance that prisoners are taken.

These people are not terrorists. They provide social and economical services for their people, including those who are less fortunate, as opposed to what the government of Lebannon has been doing.

Please replace your moral compass. it's WAY out of wack.

These people ( Party of God) are in fact terrorists who happen to provide services to people, just like Yassir Arafat was a terrorist, Hamas also provides social services, Mosche Dian was also a terrorist, but he also eventually provided social services to the Jews..... get real people, they all have blood on their hands ALL of them... and we are getting splattered cause we are standing so close..
