what would cause your car to cut off at 60mph and for the engine to rev up to 7 rpm just before it quites .?

it is a 92 mercery sable . have already changed the fuel filter , fuel regulater and pump . yesterday it just died totally , have no clue ... please help!

Sounds like it's slowly running out of fuel. The leaner it burns, the higher it will wind up. It may be the fuel pressure regulator. You need to check the computer for codes because I have no idea what could be wrong other than it's a fuel problem for sure. Good luck.
