I have to correct the person who answered above me, I work at McDonalds and we DO NOT leave out the salads. Before lunch and dinner we have to throw out all the salads we didnt use and prepare new ones. The oldest salad youre going to have at McDonalds is maybe 3 hours or so.

The dressing packs have too much dressing in them, but if you use one of the low fat dressing (ask for it, its no problem to replace it) and only use part of the pack, I dont see why the salad would be bad for you.

Also, the high sodium content is from the chicken. If youre worried about that, ask for it without the chicken or get a side salad. You can check all of this here: http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.nutrition.index1.html

McDonalds salads are healthier than other options at McDonalds, for example if you are picking between a Big Mac or a salad, then the salad is not going to be "bad for you". However, compared to other salads you could purchase or make at home, McDonalds salads are not the healthiest choice. They have added sodium, and can have fried type chicken or fattening creamy dressings. It doesn't mean they are bad for you, just not as healthy as a typical salad would imply.

Uh, oh! Bad grammar. The sentence should read: "Why are McDonald's salads bad for you?"
This is a leading question. It assumes salads are bad. It is like saying "Do you still beat your wife?"
McDonald's salads are not bad for me. I have eaten salads at McDonald's many times. I have had no problems with McDonald's salads.

The things that are bad for you in a McDonald's salad are:
-fried chicken
-cheese
-bacon
-croutons
-and most of all dressing
Also any other items added to the salad that could be fattening.

Ok you do not leave out the salads? I know for a fact you do not replace old salads because you are lazy and want to leave it for the next shift to do,And then they end up not doing it either because they are lazy too. I was a MCd's Employee for 5 years I know the truth man. And yes some of you do leave food out, I remember always trying to fix idiots mess ups.

The salads themselves are not that bad, it is the salad dressing that messes you up. Don't use a lot or use a reduced calorie or fat dressing. Get your chicken grilled instead of fried.

Arby's has much better salads
