We are transitioning into fall (although it doesn't feel like it yet), and the high season for chickens to lay eggs is the spring...they may taper off completely during the winter, and then start up again next year.

The heat could be it. They do lay by light, they lay later every day, so they could be in the night rotation where they don't lay. Also, they may be molting. They don't lay then. This time of year they generally lay less. Also, as above, heat and age could be it too. Just stick through it. Unless they all die you'll get eggs still.

My chickens are laying less also.
It is the heat.
Many do not lay to well in the heat.
Some breeds do not lay well in the winter.
I have barred rocks and they are bigger birds they lay really well all winter and spring but slack off when it gets really hot.

what do you mean by less? If they are old they will start to slack off, certain breeds won't lay everyday, and stress will also prevent egg laying everyday

because it is what chickens do. if you have a rooster she will lay the eggs set on them and hatch out baby chicks. or you can gather the eggs and eat them.

They don't. They lay fewer eggs.
Some reasons could be cold weather, low food supply or dark days. One of the biggest reasons is age. Older hens lay fewer eggs.
