I have the oil, but I am not sure where to put it.

Use only the oil that came with the machine or (3 in 1 oil). Just don't use more than a drop of oil. Too much can ruin the machine. You should do this every week or so.

With a lint brush, remove the lint from the exposed parts behind the face plate and in the bobbin area. (A basting brush works fine). Apply a drop of oil to these parts afterward. Remove excess oil by sewing a line of stitching on scrap material.

Clean these parts with a soft cloth:
Tension discs, take-up lever and thread guides, presser bar and needle bar.

Every few months, remove the top cover and put a small amount of lubricant (NOT OIL) on the gears.

The pix are of a more modern machine...... mine is a 46 year old Singer.

Good luck and enjoy the machine.

Do you still have the instruction manual? If so, it should tell you in there. I'm not exactly sure where it goes all I know is that it's best to remove the lint first so it won't get all clumpy. Have fun and when you figure it out, let me know!!
