If you messed up early and improved your performance that can act in your favor. If you messed up later, you may need to take some additional community college classes to demonstrate your desire.

There is a college for everyone and what makes it a "good college" is the effort that you are willing top put into your own education.

If you can't get into the college that you wanted, get into a college that will accept you and transfer later.
Good luck!

Believe it or not - colleges are not unprepared for the student who might have 'messed up'. High school test scores are constantly being evaluated by college entrance people. They go out to high schools and talk to the students and counselors and many of them already know there are students who are struggling and trying to catch up. There is no defeat in that. In fact, you have a greater degree of "fodder" (stuff to write about) when you have made some errors in judgement and you can write about that experience and how it changed your life and turned you around. These are people who are going to be in the working world - these are the 'real' folks. Do you think that all colleges are looking for the squeaky clean? Get in the community and do some work - build your errors on helping other people. Your high school transcript might not look 'the best', but study and score high on the testing that they require. Write to schools early and find out their agendas and requirements. Find someone inside you can hook up with and perhaps they can 'mentor you. You can attend a good college, but keep in mind - if you're looking at the top 10 - if you have been reckless in high school without some solid back up (grades are not the end all - they look at your writing skills, your community involvements, hobbies and what you can contribute to the school) Good luck and keep moving up.

Hell, yes! Anything is possible.
I would assume they'd be looking at the end result.
If people were counted out simply because they stumbled, this world would be a very very sad place indeed.

I would think you'd have as good a chance as anyone else as long as your grades and scores met their requirements.
