Nail Polish Remover is the common household item that can lift glue off of a quarter. The chemical doing all of the work is Acetone.

If it's white glue (think elmer's) you can just drop the quarter in a glass of water and let it sit for a while. White glue dissolves in water.

Fingernail polish remover. If it's stuck to something, heat it up with a hair dryer until the glue melts.
