There are so many strategies.
a) concentrate on trapping and capturing the enemy queen.
b) Protect your queen at all costs
c) treat pawns like... pawns.
d) Be bold in the use of your knights.
e) get your castles side-by-side and your bishops side-by-side
f) point out the window, say "Holy Cow! Look at that!" and take one of you opponent's pieces off of the board

You win when your opponent's king can't move to a safe space or one of his other pieces can't block your check mate. Basically, you just have to corner the king until he doesn't have a safe place to go.

you try and trap the king so it can't move anywhere
that's called a checkmate and tha's how u win

when you have 2 or more moves,most of the time make the most aggresive move you can.
