If you're asking here, you're probably not ready. I recommend strongly that you wait for someone really special to do it with -- someone you love and who loves you in return.
I did it for the first time when I was 18. It was my first night at college. A 21 year old senior picked me up and took me to her place. I was clueless. She didn't know I was clueless. We were both disappointed. I wish I had waited for a real love to do it.

It may or may not hurt. If you have ruptured you hymen via sports, or sex toys, or tampons, it may not hurt at all. You'll need to go slow to start. You should probably be on top the first time to control the penetration so you can be more relaxed. Once it's all the way in, you can continue on top or change positions if you want to be on the bottom. If you're not really wet, get some motion lotion to make things easier.
The two of you should probably give each other oral sex beforehand so he can slow down a little and so you'll be more relaxed.

Are you thinking about it because you have found that special one that loves and respects you for who you are and that you completely trust and feel safe with or do you think that it's time to lose your virginity because your friends already have or say you should or you yourself have gotten this idea into your head or maybe your boyfriend tries to get you to do so?
Losing your virginity doesn't have to hurt just like it is that you do not always lose some blood when you get deflowered. If a boy or a man takes the time to explore your body and you are completely trusting him so that you dare to tell him what you like and what you don't like when he touches you and is trying to find out what you like and enjoy and he first makes you come with his hands or his tongue before he enters you chances are that it doesn't hurt or that it hurts much less because you are relaxed and the tension is gone.
Most of the times when it hurts when a girl loses her virginity it's because she is tense because it's all new and all the stories that say that it hurts the first time and that you lose blood. It also hurts because everything goes to fast. Her boyfriend wants it to soon and doesn't take the time to explore and find out what his girlfriend likes and he forgets that it takes time with girls to make sure that she is wet enough and really ready. If the girl is still to dry it hurts and this irritates the vagina and this can cause bleeding also so it may not necessarily be the hymen that is torn that causes the bleeding. The hymen may already have been torn because of gymnastics or horseback riding or something else.
I don't know if you are in a loving relationship but if you are not I advice you to take a deep look inside to see if you are really ready to lose your virginity. Losing your virginity should be something special something that happens naturally with the one that you love and respect and trust and that loves and respects you for who you are and who doesn't want you to do things that you aren't ready for or aren't comfortable with Sex and sexuality is something that is supposed to be a beautiful sharing of love between two people who love and respect each other in that very specail way. It shouldn't be something to take light heartedly and made out as something cheap without meaning. If two people really love each other and take the time for each other and they are both ready and completely trusting each other it can be a beautiful experience without pain. It will happen naturally and there will be less tension and you can take all the time that it needs to enjoy it and make it something very special to remember.

The best advice I ever got was, if he truly loves you he will wait! Please dont let anyone ever pressure you into doing something your not ready for, you will truly regret it, and dont fall for the, If you love me you'll do it, nonsense. People may not have many things in life , but your body is all yours dont let anyone take that away!
