There was an American TV movie of Casino Royale in the 50s then of course a Bond was created that was actually from this side of the Atlantic in the immortal guise of Sean Connery - Dr. No..
You`re WAY WAY off Mike ,since Dr. No was released in 1962 and you have David Niven in 1967 in Casino Royale think it over. You have garbled the Ursula appearances too ,the bikini was Dr. No ,in CR she was Vesper Lynde.

Bugger - I knew that was Casino Royale with David Niven as Bond. I even remembered Peter Sellers was in it. But I should get top answer for remembering George Raft played himself! It was made in 1967. Check the link! It made Ursula Undress - I mean Andress famous! I remember the scene where she comes out of the sea in that white bikini with a knife in her belt. A lot of Stars in that even Woody Allen. he was Sir James Bond too, he was a mere Commander in later movies. Barbara Bouchet played Miss Moneypenny. But the best character name was Miss Goodthighs played by Jacqueline Bisset - it did her career good too. That joke was done again in another movie; but she was Miss Goodnight! Strangely enough, Richard Wattis, came from where I live in England. He played an army officer - a good character actor. Alexander Bastedo went from that to a popular TV series. About people with special powers - sort of super detectives! It may have been Mission Impossible - certainly around that time. I have such a terrible memory - but still deserve top answer! lol

Casino Royale was adapted as an American TV show, with an American actor as CIA agent Jimmy Bond, well before any of the big films came out.

Casino Royale, starring David Niven. It was actually a spoof, but pre-dated the Cubby Broccoli epics.
