DON'T THINK ABOUT IT: Microsoft defender is not a virus protection software, it's a spyware protection software. FYI:

VIRUS is a program that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. They are dangerous because they will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt, or pops up a message or it may destroy programs and data or it can atttach and copy itself to other programs or transmit itself across networks and bypass security systems. To remove a virus you use a ANTIVIRUS program, like Norton.
SPYWARE is a program that covertly gathers user information through the user's Internet connection without his/her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes They can also gather information about e-mail addresses and even passwords and credit card numbers. To remove a spyware you use programs like Microsoft Defender.

In your case, I recomend a free antivirus software. There are several good ones, like:

AVG Free Edition by Grisoft

Avast! Home Edition by ALWIL Software:

AntiVir Personal Edition by Avira

whats up. it is all question of who you ask. I Used Norton for better or less 6 years, and to me it became out to be better of a worry than help, because it does no longer locate threats from movable media inserted on my pc's USB port, which Webroot did. Norton ought to locate itself as a risk, no kidding!, it is going to alert me that a suspicious application develop into attempting to connect to the web, and it develop into one among Norton's sub-routines!!!. Norton ought to also lock up my pc randomly. I end Norton and were given the completed version of Webroot anti-virus and anti-secret agent ware, besides I run Microsoft safe practices needs AND equipment Mechanic professional from IOLO labs, this very last one is the appropriate there is, yet all 3 artwork ok and live on my pc's memory in any respect situations, after some tweaking they artwork mutually. I discovered the demanding way after dropping some useful records, i ought to lower back up many times and save my anti-virus as a lot as date. it is not any longer an price, it is an funding.

Microsoft really should know how to defend it's own software, but it's only for Beta testing. Norton has way more experence in virus protection, but if you want no viruses, you'd want to invest in a Mac.

Microsoft Defender isnt a anti virus solution. It is for spyware, so it is equivilent to spybot.

for anti virus i would suggest avg as its free and doesnt hog resources like norton or mcafee.

Microsoft Defender is an antispyware program and should be seen as complementary to your antivirus. Either renew your Norton subscription or uninstall it and get free antivirus protection such as Avast or AVG

hi, i recommand you to use firefox. firefox is more safe than IE.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

firefox can edit which site/popup to block and unblock.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
