While I have trouble understanding kids who behave like this (I was the poster child for what a student should be), it's important to remember that they don't always come from the best of circumstances. This isn't meant as an excuse. At some point people must take responsibility for their own lives and stop blaming others. Still though, crappy circumstances can be challenging to overcome. If they've got any sense, they'll eventually get a job and provide a steady income for themselves and anyone else they're close to. This can and does happen all the time. If they're content to be in their current situation, they'll continue to lead lives NOT worthy of a TV movie script.

First of all, isn't it a shame that kids even act this way? Their parents need be knocked upside the head a few times for allowing their disrespectful behavior!!! I See more and more of this every year, the children are getting worse and at a younger age (I'm talking 8-9 years old). I would have to say they will either end up in prison, or dead.

Having worked with teens many years, there are many reasons disrespect abounds.
Some parents, instead of disciplining, just give in.
You never know what a person is really dealing with at home.
Some schools would rather let the students out on the streets than work with them.
Having parents with mental illness, alcohol/ drug abuse problems, or constantly unemployed parents are not positive role
models.
There are just as many quiet, respectful, passing students who may one day just blow up for no apparent reason. Every person is worth the time, effort and patience.

They need more than luck. For some there is a wake-up call when they see where these choices are leading them and what future lies ahead. We can only hope that they have not missed so many basic skills and information that they can't make a change—then they are destined to be unsuccessful, lazy, disrespectful trouble making adults without alternatives.

LOL, don't plan on having any children..... jinx on you.

Remember there are two sides to every story....
Dave Chappelle has the 'Playa haters club' and you should be a part of it.
Kids/ teens are just kids. One positive adult role model can change their lives forever (It's called resilience). Eventually most get smart real quick and turn their lives around.

LOL, the reason why I'm laughing.... Kids/teens are the same ones that put boogers on your burgers and pee in your drink.
By your writing it seems that you were one of those teens yourself. Good Luck to you!!!

Perhaps I am just 'crazy' enough to think that these young people are going through some unhappy times in their lives and if enough grown ups with patience and love will continue to show them the truth, continue to teach and "preach" , if necessary, guide, provide encouragement, etc. and not judge them too harshly, they may rise to the occasion and be what God has placed in them to be. There are some who will fall by the wayside no matter what efforts are made to try and help, but I hope and pray that enough of us will be trying to help these young folks and not give up on them. They are still part of our future - whether we like it or not - and it is up to us to help them become a part of the positive and productive future - as best we can.

Some will continue in the same patterns of behaviour, and some will have an epiphany and change.I hope the latter for all of them.A little helpful guidance to direct a persons potential and energy toward something they enjoy is a godsend. Why not be the force of positive change? It will make you happy as well.Good day!

OR they may be on some street corner selling drugs for some dangerous gang and get shot at by some rival gang and die!!!
How about that!!!OK let's say they don't do that...... They're probably going to occupy our jail system and live off of our tax dollars. These people are not going to be much use for our society unless they get help soon and change themselves.

I disagree with the disrespectful part. Sometimes the teachers ask for it! If a teacher is being a jerk to me for absolutely no reason then I am not going to sit around and take it just because they are the teacher. I am going to fight back! You have to give respect to get it. It hasn't affected me or my grades.
