Everytime I put a ring on my wedding finger it breaks out in a blistered rash. My wedding ring is a really nice and expensive ring. It is 14k gold. I even went and had my ring checked to make sure I didn't get ripped off. I have had it cleaned many many times. The confusing thing is, I can wear all other jewlery, necklaces, other rings, ear rings, anything. Just nothing on my wedding finger. This has been going on for a few years. Any ideas? Maybe an infection??

All of my other jewlery is gold. I have tried wearing sterling silver ring as well and wearing it there, but it still broke out. My husband then bought me a white gold ring and it still broke out. Anything I put on that finger breaks it out. I can take the same rings and wear them elsewhere without a problem.

Ah... my wife had the same problem. The problem is that inside the ring there is a hollow area (behind the diamond [s]) that somehow manages to keep moisture.
The solution is to have your jeweler fill in that area with more gold. Problem was solved right away. Until then... every time your ring finger gets wet... take off the ring and dry it. Good luck.

I'm only 17, but i kind of understand what you mean. I had this girlfriend, it wasn't worth much cop in the end. But from the past year, she's changed. As in like.. She goes out more, she drinks. When she didnt like me drinking? So i just felt kinda.. overwhelmed and just thought she's changing. So i thought she would find someone else, on these nights out you go on, he may feel insecure, it's not about the trust issue he has with you, but maybe he feels that he might be 2nd best sometime soon because of it. It's not a good feeling for us men, believe me. And if i was married and on a break, then yeah i guess i would wear my engagment ring, because that's what its going to be, a 'break' And yes, be very wary about 'tests' just be careful on what you do/say. Just tell him you love him, or have a weekend away together. It might help. But what do i know? I'm just a kid. I hope this helps for you!

Have you worn any other jewelry made of gold? You could be allergic to gold.
You could also be allergic to other metal that somehow contaminated the gold in your wedding ring, but isn't present in your other jewelry. I doubt it's an infection...more likely an allergy. You might just have to get a new ring!

You need to try 22 carat good plain band.
It is more pure gold, very few people are allergic to 22 carat gold.
If not 24 carat should work, it is very soft.
To support stones gold would have to be no purer then 18 carat max.
Explain the problem, buy it on trail bases. If it does not work out, get the refund by returning the band.

this sounds crazy but my engagement ring i have to wear on the bottom instead of the top of my wedding ring cause my finger will break out too. every time i clean or wash my hands i dry underneath my rings, that seems to help. and if you use any kind of cleaner or bleach wash you hands good. works for me

It might just be a reaction to the nickel additive in your ring. Try wrapping your finger with tape before you put it on - provides a barrier between it and your skin and might help prevent the reaction.

no, no infection. You're algeric to one of the alkalie metals bonded with the gold. It's unfortunate, but you need to get a new ring.

Maybe see your dermatologist. There could be something in the metal or you could be allergic.
