Definitely a demi-god. When I was 17 years old during the 1970's, I went to my first Frank Zappa concert. I cannot explain easily exactly what I heard and saw during that performance beyond the fact that it was truly extraordinary and changed my feelings, ideas, and attitude towards music for the rest of my life. It was as if I had been listening to rock music all my life through a little peephole, and then that first concert an enormous door was opened and I was enlightened about how wonderous music can be. To see Frank Zappa live was to be a part of a true musical composing genius' audience. I went to every one of his concerts from 1970 to 1980 with my boyfriend and feel fortunate to have witnessed the enormity of his talents which his albums, although excellent themselves, could not truly capture the real Frank Zappa essence. Not to forget to mention that every band member of the Mothers were astounding musicians themselves to be able to perform his compositions so perfectly. In the US, he isn't given the true recognition of his unmatched talents that Europe does. I'm so glad that my boyfriend (now husband) has such a good ear for true musical talent and opened my mind to music beyond "mainstream" or "pop." Thanks for the question; it made me feel good to answer it!

Well, considering he's dead, sadly. He is closer to God...
