Other people have called her fat too, not just her mother, other kids can be mean. Tell her that if she is waiting for the right man because of her looks, to stop right now.. who wants to married to that kind of a man. Make sure she doesn't get into that eating disorder thing. She is fine. Today society says women should be a size 5, that is Victoria's Secret.. hahaha.. Her esteem problem comes more from home probably, what kind of a parent would make their kid feel bad about themself? She feels fat inside, that has to change before anything else. She just needs you to stay her friend, work on making her feel good about herself.

Well, I know I am fat, but I used to be skinny and I am certainly big boned. Big boned women are more prone to overweight issues. I am also very strong and muscular and healthy. I can ride a bike 10 miles like it's nothing and I have been known to hold back boys from fights. I think it's important to work out and eat healthy, wear pretty clothes, get your hair and nails done and feel as nice as you can. Feel good about yourself. That's most important. (BMI is not always accurate if you are muscular).

In my opinion there is really nothing you can do because people's body images are always going to be askew from what the rest of the world sees. so other than just complementing her when she looks super cute i don't know what else you can do. my friends and I have this thing cause we finally realized that we cant see ourselves the way the world does so we promised to be honest about how we look and what the other one says is the truth so we go off that instead of the mirror so maybe you cause try something like that!

I don't think guys go for rail skinny. I am 5'6". I used to weigh 115 but then gained weight after working in a restaraunt. I attract more attention now that I am 135, probably because I'm more proportioned. Tell your friend guys like curves, and what turns them off is her lack of confidence, not her size.

I'm sorry but once you've been told you're big boned for a while, that's all you really think about. I'm the same way. My mom tells me I'm fat all the time but I try not to let it get to me.

A recent study shows that when men are hungry, they find larger women more attractive, but when they're full, they prefer skinnier gals... get her a job as a pizza delivery girl!

I would just keep reminding her that she's beautiful just the way she is!
Maybe you 2 could exercise together and that may make her feel better about herself.
Good luck!
