I was going to say an instant weight loss machine, then I was going to tell Wallwood that I am that woman but then I read the answer from Iposhrat and funny wasn't funny any longer. What an invention that would be!

A machine that measures the real value of work done by individuals so that they get paid appropriately instead of the payment rules being decided by those who own the current rule making machine.

My second choice by a slim margin would be a machine that creates consciences in the top 5% richest people but prevents them from committing suicide in shame.

I would invent a device to put on a television so that when the remote gets lost you can do it just like you do a cordless phone, press the button and the remote sounds off. Ahhh it was buried deep in the couch!!!!!!

A room temperature superconductor.

If we replaced all wiring in north America with this material we would not lose 90% of our energy to resistance along the power net as we do now.

It would be like having ten times more energy available for free. (well the cost of the new wire infrastructure)

plus then I could buy and sell ten Bill Gates.

A cure for friggin' commercials in movie theatres. Maybe something to throw at the screen. Maybe something to throw at theatre management.

I pay my $12 and get insulted with 15 minutes of TV grade commercials and 10 minutes of previews.

How's this for a twist on the topic at hand?

A 'stop machine',which, when pressed by me would cause the rest of the world to stop in time... I used to wish I could have one when I was little, and marvelled at the different things I could do.e.g.stop it during exams and copying off a clever person.! I did wonder what would happen if I died when it was still on 'stop' mode.....yeah man, childhood, ain't it nice..?!
