I hate when people cuss, it makes them sound so ignorant. I think people cuss because they lack the vocabulary to truly state what they mean. I think if people would stop and think about the meaning of these cuss words they use, they would figure out they have no place in the context of their sentences. It seems as if some people use curse words like "sentence enhancers." For many, there is no real need for them, except to fill up silence.

First, little sister, where does it say that cussing is a sin? I do believe that the only sin close to that is the one of "taking God's name in vain". So as long as one refrains from that particular vein of colloquial speech, it's not a sin.
Second- People swear because it's what they hear in the media- music, movies, and TV. Additionally, if they have limited access to positive role models who speak without swearing, people are more inclined to cuss.
Third- I understand why cussing irritates or disgusts you. It often replaces intelligent discussion. However, you will never sway people from cussing by acting indignant or offended. The only way to change people and their behaviors is to change their hearts. Acting superior and prissy will never accomplish this, but being a stronger role model than the media or their family represents will. Additionally, if someone is swearing around you, you can either a) politely excuse yourself from the discussion, or b) gently let them know that you'd appreciate it if they would curb their language around you. If they refuse, go back to plan (a).
Best of luck- Peace.

It's a nasty habit, like smoking. I cuss and I wish I didn't but the words just start coming out like bullets from a machine gun when I get pissed. I am trying to quit but it's hard. It is stupid but I am not. I have an extensive vocabulary but when I am not at work, I find myself cussing from time to time. I wish I had never started cussing but I did and now I need to stop. However, there are worst things that I could be doing like smoking weed, snorting cocaine, killing people, robbing banks, etc. Cut me some slack.

Lack of a good vocabulary; but in some situations a cuss word just seems to be the right word to say.

i believe cussing is stupid and dumb. I try not to use those words, and every once and a while one will "pop" out, but otherwise i dont make it a habit. And, if you cuss alot, those words begin to lose meaning and they just become something you would say daily.

Yes, cussing is not the correct way to express ones self, but unfortunately, most of us do. They have done studies, concerning cussing, and how serious people take them, and the cussers were not taken serious. I am not going to be a hypocrite, and tell you that I don't, or never have cussed, I do try to use other words to express myself, but some times, it just flies right out of my mouth.............:)

Totally stupid, and it does make a lot of people look ignorant and totally uneducated. Although, these are the same people who cannot even put a proper sentence together withe the help of Spell Check. It all goes hand in hand. Have a good day!!

I really don't mind cussing, but I wish people would leave out the f word. That's the only one that gives me the shivers.

Many people enjoy making themselves appear to be damn fools. That's the only thing that bad language does.
There are many who put so many F words in their sentences that the whole meaning is lost. The one thing that doesn't get lost is their stupidity - - it stands out sharp and clear.
