They generally do not bite, but if they do, it's not the fact that it's hard that hurts, it's that their teeth are very sharp and tear your flesh easily. Also, their mouths like all reptiles are full of bacteria and you can get a nasty infection. In general, lizards are not the best pet for anyone to get as they need special care. But if you are insistant, a bearded dragon is a great beginner lizard and can be very gentle and calm.

Just the facts. Bearded dragons make wonderful pets as long as the person owning it is over 5 and uses soap and water on a regular basis. In 11 years of selling them, I've only heard once of a person being bit and that was because they never handled the dragon at all. They are peaceful and can also live with uromastix.

LOL, they don't bite often but IF you do make them bit it hurts like an SOB. They have very sharp teeth and quite a lot of bite strength. My little female bit me today because she was surprised and unhappy (my fault) and it went right through my thumb nail, nearly took the tip of my finger off.

I am shocked! I was hand-feeding my buddy Liam some supers and he over reached and bit my finger! I'm so proud of my little badass for having that much of a bite! Drew a little blood, washed it out and put Neo' on it.

No they really don't bite hard. They can break the skin so just wash it good and use some peroxide. It scares you far worse than the bite. For one thing he is just settling in so he needs some time to adjust to new home and to you. Don't grab at him and don't go at him from above him. He thinks you are a predator. Approach him from the front and try holding a favorite food in your hand to entice him. Just give him a few days to settle in and then start working with him slowly. He has to learn to trust you. I am giving you my list of foods for everyday, occasionally and never foods. Just copy and paste it to a word document and you can print it out to refer to it. I doubt they can bite your finger off, lol....You'd be suprised how hard they do bite, and they can draw blood.
Get a piece of strawberry, put on the tip of your finger and let your dragon lick it up :D
