we are on the verge of separation but i dont know when to call it.

we are great together in public. but alone we argue over every thing . and then their are the kids . i dont know what to do.

when it hurts more to be together than it does to be apart. that is the most simplistic way I can think of.. at least that is how I felt when I was going through a separation...

What does he think about it? You finally reach a point where you just can't go on. The decision to separate is a huge relief and a huge heart break at the same time. You are glad to get some space where you don't have to come home to the same arguments each day, but you mourn the loss of a marriage. Please seek counseling before you actually make a move. A counselor may be able to help you work through the problems and keep the family together. If you can't stay together, a counselor can help make the break-up more bearable.

You call it before things go to an extreme with the behaviors toward each other. Just make sure that you've done everything possible to make the relationship so there won't be any doubt about going your separate ways. If that happens, then there's a possibility of you two getting back together. So, do what makes you happy at this point in your life, because believe me that's what the other party will be doing.

If your willing to go with a separation be ready for a divorce. There are only 2 ways to go after a separation and the majority goes towards divorce.
